چکیده

This paper proposes a non-radial DEA approach consisting of both a static and a dynamic environmental performance index (EPI) for measuring environmental performance. The static EPI is defined as the ratio of a non-radial efficiencymeasure for reducing undesirable outputs to that for increasing desirable outputs. The proposed non-radial DEA approach has been applied to model the environmental performance of industrial sectors in different provinces of China from 1998 to 2009. It has been found that the static non-radial EPI has a higher discriminating power than the EPI derived from the non-radial undesirable outputs orientation DEA models. Our empirical results also show that the environmental performance of industrial sectors in China improves by 58% in 1998–2009 that is mainly driven by the technological change. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd. A non-radial DEA approach to measuring environmental performance

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has gained great popularity in environmental performance measurement because it can provide a synthetic standardized environmental performance index when pollutants are suitably incorporated into the traditional DEA framework. Past studies about the application of DEA to environmental performance measurement often follow the concept of radial efficiency measures....

Frame work of data envelopment analysis--a model to evaluate the environmental efficiency of China's industrial sectors.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the environmental and technical efficiencies of China's industrial sectors and provide appropriate advice for policy makers in the context of rapid economic growth and concurrent serious environmental damages caused by industrial pollutants. METHODS A data of envelopment analysis (DEA) framework crediting both reduction of pollution outputs and expansion of good outputs ...

Measuring Performance, Estimating Most Productive Scale Size, and Benchmarking of Hospitals Using DEA Approach: A Case Study in Iran

Background and Objectives: The goal of current study is to evaluate the performance of hospitals and their departments. This manuscript aimed at estimation of the most productive scale size (MPSS), returns to scale (RTS), and benchmarking for inefficient hospitals and their departments. Methods: The radial and non-radial data envelopment analysis (DEA) ap...

Performance evaluation of efficiency change and productivity growth in Supply Chain ‎Management‎

The performance of a supply chain can be evaluated in either a cross-sectional or a time series manner, and data envelopment analysis is a useful method for both types of evaluation. In this paper we develop an index and indicator of productivity change that can be used with radial and non-radial models for supply chain malmquist index. The supply chain malmquist productivity index (SCMPI) can ...

An Integrated Approach for Measuring Performance of Network structure: Case study on power plants

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) and balanced scorecard (BSC) are two well-known approaches for measuring performance of decision making units (DMUs). BSC is especially applied with quality measures, whereas, when the quantity measures are used to evaluate, DEA is more appropriate. In the real-world, DMUs usually have complex structures such as network structures. One of the well-known network s...
